Today, we’re going to take a look at a very unusual Bamboo Gazebo.

Now, all bamboo gazebos will, of course, have an oriental look to them, just because of the bamboo material that is being used, but it’s also the strange shape of this one that adds to that mystical eastern feel.

So, apart from simply using this gazebo as somewhere to go and relax, this, to us, is begging to become a place where you go for some afternoon tea – Chinese style, of course.

If you’re having trouble picturing this, you may remember such a scene from the movie The Karate Kid 2, starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. (And, yes, we realize that this movie is based in Japan, not China, but it’s sufficient to give you the idea of what a traditional tea ceremony might look like.)

Chinese Tea SetNow, before you can hold your oriental tea ceremony, you will need a few items, so let’s start with the most important element – the Chinese tea service itself.

These usually come as a set, with one teapot and anywhere from two to four matching small cups, as shown here in this beautiful boxed set.

Next, of course, you’ll need some tea, and it will have to be Chinese tea if you want to make it an authentic eastern experience, so the most popular choices would be Chinese Green Tea and Chinese Oolong Tea:

Chinese TrayMoving on, you’ll more than likely need some form of tray to bring the tea set out to your bamboo gazebo from your kitchen.

You’re now equipped with the absolute minimum to hold your own, private tea ceremony, but there are a few more items we’d recommend to make your experience even more atmospheric.

Chinese Lacquer TableFor example, you might want a small Chinese Lacquer Table on which to place your tray and tea set.

Next, given that Orientals tend to kneel on the floor when participating in their tea ceremonies, you might want to consider having some cushions available, as you certainly don’t want to ruin the experience by ending up with bruised knees.

There are many Chinese-style cushion covers available, but we particularly like these two.

The first is handmade in black and red cotton, and sports the Chinese symbol for long life, while the second one is handmade in a silky red and gold material, with a bamboo leaf design:

And the last item we like, which will add that finishing touch, is one of these very unusual and decorative Chinese metal wall hangings:

They all measure 15 x 15 inches, and are two inches deep, and would look great on the rear screen of this bamboo gazebo – you probably would have room for more than one of them.

Well, we hope you have enjoyed our little trip out East, so all you need to do now is to bring that experience to your own back yard with this distinctive Bamboo Gazebo.

The gazebo has a seating area of 8 x 8 ft, although the base measures 10 x 10 ft, with the roof, which is made of cogon, overhanging the sides by an additional foot. The whole structure is also 10 ft tall.

I could see me enjoying a nice hot tea in the early moring mist. A little later in the day, it might be nice to step outside the bamboo gazebo and belly up to the Tiki Bar!
