First of all, you’ll perhaps be glad to know that we’re not suggesting you build your own luxury Swiss chalet in your back yard – unless you want to, of course.

No, today we’re taking a break, literally, from the world of patio gazebos – as we take a vacation to Switzerland.

Actually, we’re going to follow the couple we introduced you to a couple of weeks ago or so (when we reviewed the Sunnyvale Lounge Swing), Miguel and Jordan, as they take the vacation they had to postpone because of his work emergency.

Although they’ve spent many hours and created some story-book tales in their own backyard Grand Chalet where their Jacuzzi-Hot Tub has seen a lot of action, they want to create some new memories and try out the hot tubs in the Swiss Alps.

Once again, they’ve brought with them some of their favourite music, and they’d like you to choose and vote for your favourite too:

The taxi cab pulled up at the chalet, in Zermatt, and Miguel and Jordan got out, followed by Jordan’s best friend, Amber, and her current boyfriend, Travis.

The chalet was actually large enough to sleep up to 14 people, in the seven bedrooms, but Miguel and Jordan had decided to make this an intimate affair. To be honest, Miguel would rather have had Jordan to himself, as it was meant to be a second honeymoon, but Jordan had insisted, and if bringing her friend along was what it took, so be it.

They were tired after all that travelling – over eight hours in the air, and some – and it was already late, so they decided to hit the sack and get some much-needed sleep.

Luxury Swiss Chalet - InteriorIn the morning, they all met up in the kitchen, grabbed some breakfast, and hit the town for a look-see.

While they were out, Jordan bought some champagne, some chocolate (Swiss, of course), and a few other delicacies, in preparation for their anniversary celebration that evening.

In the afternoon, they returned to their chalet, relaxed and chatted awhile in the main living area, before freshening up and getting dressed up for the meal they’d booked in a local restaurant, which came with great recommendations from friends back home.

The dinner was superb, and the wine list extensive – so much so, that they were all somewhat tipsy by the time they wandered, somewhat erratically, back to their chalet.

Luxury Swiss Chalet - By MoonlightIt was a beautiful, warm night, and as they wandered out on to the balcony, to admire the view of the town, Miguel went inside to uncork the first bottle of champagne, which had been chilling all afternoon.

Sitting on the balcony, the four of them got to talking about this and that, and pretty soon, with the combination of the good food, the alcohol, the warm evening air and the camaraderie, somebody – nobody could remember who – suggested that they all go for a soak in the hot tub.

Luxury Swiss Chalet - View From The JacuzziToo lazy and tired to go back to their rooms to change into swimwear, and too inebriated to care anyway, they simply took off their outer clothes, stripping down to their underwear, and jumped into the hot tub, champagne glasses in hand.

Whether it was the heat from the water, or the increasing amounts of champagne they were drinking – they were already on their second bottle – the four of them got more and more giggly and amorous.

Amber & Travis In Their Hot TubAmber, no doubt keen to impress her latest boyfriend, began to get less and less subtle, until Miguel, unable to keep quiet any longer, suggested that the two of them “go and get themselves a room”.

Once these two had staggered off, to continue their drunken fumblings (and who knows what else), in the privacy of their bedroom inside the chalet, Miguel and Jordan were alone, at last.

Miguel had thought this moment would never arrive – Amber and Travis were fun, but they were also an intrusion on the real point of this Swiss vacation.

Miguel & Jordan In Their Hot TubUnable to resist any longer, he put down their now-empty champagne glasses, and turned to embrace his beautiful wife.

As their lips met, they both instantly remembered their first kiss, and those inexplicable tingles that they had taken, correctly, to be a good omen for things to come.

Their kiss lingered, as Miguel’s hands deftly removed what was left of Jordan’s clothing and prepared for some underwater intimacy…

Yes, this was going to be a night to remember, just as their wedding night had been, and they had five hard more days of vacationing to come – Miguel could hardly contain himself!

Not everybody has room for a pool house or cabana, etc. in their back yard, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the benefits of a private hideaway, as Miguel and Jordan found when they rented this Swiss chalet for a few days.

And while your own gazebo or pergola might be OK for a weekend picnic or somewhere to chill out every so often, you might want somewhere a bit more special for occasions such as anniversaries, in which case, a vacation rental is ideal.

Of course, Switzerland may be a long way to go for some people, so watch out for an alternative option, coming soon, when Amber and her friends take a wild break in West Virginia. I’m sorry but I had trouble reading the last part of the story. My glasses were too steamed up!

I could definitely see my wife and I in such a setting.

  4. Hi Rae and Mark,

Romantic weekend getaways indeed are very important for couples. I adore how you weave in that people can enjoy the hot tub and cabanas with a beautiful rental. Plus that way we’re not responsible for the snow shoveling!

Indeed, I was just thinking I need to blog about weekend getaways. Interesting the synchronicity!
