After yesterday’s little digression to look at hammock chairs, we’re back to our main theme of gazebos today.

Although we’re reviewing oval gazebos here, we have to say that, when you look at the overall shape of the roof, they do look like elongated hexagons, as we saw a few days ago.

So, what can well you about these oval gazebos?

Well, firstly, there are the usual choices – you can have your gazebo in red cedar, treated pine (as shown above – it’s the treated pine double roof variety, measuring 12 x 20 ft) and vinyl, and you can go for either the single roof or double roof.

Then, once you’ve made that initial choice, you need to decide how large you want your gazebo – and remember, as we said in our Gazebo Building Tips article from a few days ago, you’ll probably find more uses for it than you first thought, so always choose the largest you can.

And with these oval gazebos, you have a massive number of options available – the single-roof gazebos come in 33 different sizes, from a very compact 8 x 10 ft up to a huge 20 x 40 ft, while the double-roof gazebos are available in 30 sizes, from 10 x 12 ft up to the same upper limit of 20 x 40 ft.

Finally, having decided on the size, then you’ll have a load more customisation options to choose from when you configure your gazebo – e.g. decking materials, railing quantities and styles, post styles, brace designs, whether you want a cupola or not, ceiling materials, screens, roofing materials and colours, what finish you want, not to mention plenty of other options too.

So, as usual, here are a few photos to give you some ideas for your own garden, and, as before, we’ve shown them in increasing order of size:

As you can see, these gazebos work well anywhere, whether it’s on open lawn, in a shaded woodland area, down by the seashore or water front, or, our favourite, by the swimming pool.
