In our never-ending quest to find new and unusual items (i.e. not only gazebos) for your backyard and garden, we’re bringing you something today that we found by accident, and which we didn’t even know existed.

Now, you might think that the strange contraption shown here belongs on some form of theme park ride, but in fact, it’s something known as a rocker glider, amongst many other names.

This particular one, the first of three we’ve found for you, is called the Treated Pine Keystone Glider, and we think it looks really fun.

It’s clearly designed for relaxing, as it comes complete with cup holders!

There are two sizes available – a four-seater and a six-seater, which makes it very flexible and ideal for:

  • one person who wants a bit of quiet time in the garden, gently swinging while reading a book, listening to their iPod, or just kicking back for a while
  • two people who want to be alone for a while, so they can chat, for example, and because these glider rockers are built for at least four people, a couple could choose to sit facing each other, or side by side for a more intimate experience (e.g. if they have more than just chatting in mind)
  • mom, dad and the kids, maybe enjoying a picnic-lunch on the convenient folding table top
  • the entire family, including grandma and grandpa, for a summer’s day get-together.

In terms of size, then both models are about eight feet long and six feet high, but the width varies, of course, depending on whether you want the four-seater model (just over four feet wide) or the six-seater model (nearly six-feet wide).

There is a choice of classy canopy colours available – burgundy, green or blue – to help you match it to your garden’s theme:

Burgundy Green Blue

As the name suggests, this glider is made from treated yellow pine, and the gliding action is provided by wheels, which is what gives it such a smooth motion.

According to the manufacturer, you can expect it to take about 90 minutes to put together, as it is delivered already partially assembled.

All in all, we think this would be a great addition to your garden.

Poly-Wood Biscayne GliderOur second offering is very similar in features and size to the first one, described above, but it does have a completely different feel.

This one, called the Poly-Wood Biscayne Glider, is made of polyethylene plastic lumber, with stainless steel hardware, although the canopy is only available in burgundy and green.

There is also only one size with the model, unlike the treated pine version.

But either way, these are both very distinctive gliders, and either one of them could easily transform your yard into something really special.

Red Cedar Carriage Roller GliderNow, the third rocker glider we have for you has an altogether more rustic look, and is made of western red cedar.

The Red Cedar Carriage Roller Glider is designed to seat from one to four people, and there are several options available so that you can customise it to your personal taste, including nine different bench styles.

So, if you prefer a more natural look (almost like you made it yourself), then this would be the one for you.

Regardless of which one you choose, however, we know that you’ll enjoy that gentle rocking / rolling action as you site back and chill out, maybe on a Sunday afternoon, or perhaps after a hard day in the office.

Ahh! I can taste the iced tea (Long Island Iced Tea would be better) on a warm summer day, just swinging and gliding back and forth.
