Although this first item is technically known as a pergola, it’s also often referred to these days as an outdoor room, and in this case, as you will see, it’s being used as a dining room.

So, let’s set the scene.

Just imagine, it’s your wedding anniversary, and you’ve prepared a special surprise for your wife.

As she comes downstairs, looking gorgeous in her best black dress, expecting to go out for a romantic anniversary meal, you take her, instead – to your patio.

It’s a warm, still evening, with the sounds of crickets chirruping in the distance, and dusk is falling.

The musicians you’ve hired begin to play some classical Spanish guitar (you’ll have to click the Audio MP3 icon, below, to enjoy this yourself):

My Little Spanish Lady

You lead her to the candle-lit dining table that has been set up under your pergola, pull her chair back for her as she takes her seat, and then you join her, to start your anniversary meal.

While you could have cooked it yourself, you chose, instead, to hire some professional caterers, as you wanted to make sure everything was just perfect.

After an aperitif of Cava, accompanied by tapas, the charming waitress delivers course after course of traditional Spanish fare, with wines such as Verdejo and Rioja to complement each one, until, dessert finished, you sit and talk awhile, before gently taking your beautiful wife by the hand and going for a slow dance until the dark blue of the dusk is replaced by the pitch black of night, and it’s time to retire indoors.

We’re sure you’ll agree that a romantic dinner under this stunning, treated pine pergola, would be a great way to celebrate not only your anniversary, but any special occasion, whether it’s just the two of you, or whether you have friends round for dinner.

The great thing about this particular pergola is that, apart from looking very classy, of course, there are sizes to suit almost every patio – 25 different sizes, in fact, ranging from a modest 8 x 8 ft, all the way up to 16 x 32 ft. (The one shown above is 10 x 10ft.)

We hate to ruin the vision we’ve just created, but you do need to know that this Treated Pine Deluxe 4-Beam Pergola comes in an easy-to-assemble kit.

It’s made from treated Southern Yellow Pine, and the solid 4-beam design has laminated posts with stainless steel brackets.

It is available in all the same sizes as the 4-beam model described above, but you have the option with this model of going for a free-standing or wall-mounted version.

So, you could position it somewhere away from your house, like the one above, or you could use as an extension to the house, as shown here.

Once again, it does come as a kit – it arrives in a weather-proof crate, to protect it from the elements, detailed instructions are, of course, included, and if you do have any questions or problems, a Project Advisor, who is there to help you, is only a phone call away.

  7. Very nice! But how do you keep these weighted down so that they dont get destroyed in 60-90 mph winds?
Do they put steel posts inside those wooden legs that attach to the ground?

  11. Absolutely beautiful: both the item you described and the setting you envisioned!

This has the look of Elegant Mediterranean at its best!

And (now a plug for Italy…) I think you could have authentic food catered from a region of ITALY, as well as Italian musicians playing romantic music – (Italy has a vast array of regional dishes, wines and music that are exquisite!)

Wow, this looks beautiful. And very romantic! I think I’ll be looking for something with a little more cover and shade, though.

  15. Hi Rae and Mark,

I like this beautiful pergola and how you weave a romantic story at the same time of how to live with them. I must say, you must be a happily married man because you were thoughtful and considerate enough to hire a caterer and servers rather than leave it up to her to deal with the food on your anniversary.

    Some romantic evening….

This pergola reminds me of cold summer nights out in the beach. They had a similar one in this quaint little beach resort we went to for honeymoon. Romantic.

  17. Adam Perez says:

I bet a lot of romantic candle lit dinners would turn out more memorable in that pergola. What a romantic looking set up, imagine getting a 4 piece quartet to play while you wine with your special someone. Romance.

  18. What a beautiful outdoor space! I love the pergola and the tile.

Absolutely stunning! I don’t have a spot for it in my yard, but someday I would love to have one. Hopefully I can find a place to put it. ;)

  20. Tanya Nielson says:

I had no idea what a pergola was until I saw and read about this one. Now that I have, I am thinking I want one really, really bad. Looks like my husband and boys will have a project for summer next year after all.

  21. Susan Mitchell says:

I’m having such trouble deciding between this and your Cape Cod pergola. They’re both exquisite! Everything you’ve told me about them just makes them sound even more incredible, not to mention all of the gorgeous pictures from previous user’s occasions. Both would be a beautiful asset to my wedding – now to somehow pick only ONE! =]

Thanks for offering such great products on your website. You’ve made looking for wedding pieces a breeze!
